The unit is also RS-232 compatible and works with a Windows®-based verification software package.

The QC800 Series Bar Code Verifier offers the convenience of simple aim-and-shoot verification through the use of a QC3800V, a customized, IT3800
handheld linear imager. Quickly perform pass/fail testing of dimensional and format quality parameters
like average bar deviation, wide-to-narrow ratios, encodation, and ANSI/CEN/ISO decodability. Full traditional and ANSI/CEN/ISO dimensional, reflectance, and format tests can also be performed using optional mouse and pen style wands.

Quick Check verifiers are easy to use, yet packed with high performance features that utilize the most sophisticated test methods. Every model can be instantly programmed to test bar code specifications
by simply scanning command codes, or by using the easy-to-follow programming menu that guides an operator through each step.

To accommodate varying label densities, interchangeable mouse and pen wands allow a user to select the appropriate aperture; in mouse wands choose from 3, 5, 6, 10, and 20 mil sizes, and in pen
wands choose from 5, 6, and 10 mil sizes. These wands can be used with the QC600 or QC800 Series
verifiers to make any bar code verification process more flexible and efficient.

If needed, a detailed hard copy printout can be produced from any of the Quick Check desktop models using an optional Quick Check printer.

Results can also be sent to a PC via an RS-232 communication interface or the QCViewer software. Each verifier is powered by AA NiCad rechargeable
batteries and an AC charger.

Quick Check On-Line

Hand Held Products’ Quick Check® Model QCOLVSV100 Verifier is a universal system component that can analyze linear bar code print quality, check encoded data, and detect system failures. In its basic mode of operation, the QCOLV-SV100 performs bar code verification and operates in various synchronous modes.

The QCOLV-SV100 combines state-of-the-art digital
signal processor (DSP) technology, a proprietary high-speed moving beam laser scanner with unique
analog output capability, and flexible I/O and communications capability. This powerful architecture enables the unit to be an economical Quality Assurance tool for practically any bar code printing, application, or conveyance system.

The QCOLV-SV100 performs most accepted methods of bar code verification: ANSI method, traditional method, encoded data format checks, and
laser scanning type analyses. These wide ranging analysis parameters can be used to measure bar code quality and detect failure mechanisms for any print technology.

Bar code quality and encoded data information can be reported through the serial communications port for each code analyzed; therefore, accountability for all printed bar codes is possible. The QCOLV-SV100 I/O consists of five programmable output ports, two programmable display LEDs, and a sync input. The programmable ports allow the unit to be used as a controller for pausing printers, activating lights, and gating conveyors.

The recommended setup tool for the QCOLV-SV100 is Hand Held Products’ QC ScanView, Windows®- based software. This program simplifies setup via menus, and offers real time monitoring of bar codes
being analyzed. QC ScanView programs the QCOLV-SV100 via serial communication using a PC
download language (described in the User’s Guide,
part #QCOLVSV/UG).
