Ports Set up

Baud, parity, bits, stop bits
Set these to match the external RS232 device you want to communicate to. Each port can be set up individually or using the general settings.
Barcode termination
The incoming data must be broken down into manageable chunks for the input buffer. This might be a carriage return at the end of a string sent from a barcode scanner for example. You can set the terminating character the software will look for:
- timeout - if no characters are received for a set time, the software will assume the incoming data stream has ended
- prefix
- CR - carriage return (HEX OD)
- LF - line feed (HEX 0A)
Filter
You can choose to modify the incoming data as it is passed to the keyboard buffer. You can:
- append an ENTER to the end of each character string received
- append a TAB to the beginning of the string
- send only digits, filtering out all other characters
- send only digits and alpha characters
Termination timeout
Set the delay the software will wait before the software assumes the incoming string has ended.
Delay for 28/29 prefixes - a feature of some programs requiring weigh scale input, a delay can be introduced after the the first two characters received, if they are 28 or 29. The item code and weight information will then follow.
Output to
Choose between keyboard emulation or saving data to a file. If you choose keyboard emulation the incoming RS232 data will be sent as keystrokes to the active Windows application. If you choose Logfile, the data will be stored to a file of your choice in a format of your choice.
Logfile
You can create a new Logfile when the application runs, or open an existing file. Specify the filename here and decide if you want date and time stamping added. The record format will be:
RS232 data, field separator, date, field separator, time.
The field separator is chosen in the first set up screen.
